Groms Are Coming Up!
Saturday, October 25, 2008, Mavericks broke for the second time this season with 10-15 footers and a couple 20-25 footers.
Along with the regulars, two new names came out for the first time: 15 year-olds, Michael Joshua and Skylar Banner (son of Big-Wave surfer, Ion Banner).
They have both been hungry for their backyard wave and they got it!

Mavericks opening day kicked off Saturday, October 4th with 15-18 foot surf. Oregon John, Ben Andrews, Garrett McNamara and a handful of others scored some pretty clean conditions considering the north wind that came up throughout the day. The swell was west, which combined with the 15 knot wind made the peak very shifty leaving some waves without a ride.
